5-star Relais & Chateaux castle hotel on 110 acres of gardens and woodland in South Ayrshire
Dining
Glenapp Castle has an award-winning 3 AA Rosette restaurant serving classical Scottish gourmet dining. The Azalea, by Glenapp Castle, offers a more informal dining setting inside the 150-foot Victorian Glasshouse in the heart of the Walled Gardens. Guests can choose from a 3-course Gourmet Dinner, a 7-course tasting menu, or a Gourmet Lunch and indulgent afternoon tea. An extensive list of wines and champagne is served.
Activities
The hotel offers a range of country sports and outdoor activities including archery, fishing, horse riding, and golf. A falconry session focused on eagles introduces guests to a Harris Hawk, Tawny Eagle, Steppe Eagle, and a White-tailed Fish Eagle. Whiskey tasting, cooking classes, and boat trips to local islands via Glenapp Sea Safaris provide further experiences for guests.
Accommodation
The hotel has 21 rooms and suites with views of the sea or gardens. Suites include the Countess Suite, Grand Sea View room, and the Penthouse Suite, which offers a separate sitting room and a sleeper sofa. Rooms come with a flat-screen TV, DVD player, trouser press, and a private bathroom with bath and shower. Complimentary tea and coffee are brought to the room upon request.
Grounds & Location
Glenapp Castle sits on a 36-acre estate of formal gardens and woodland within 110 acres of private grounds. The Walled Gardens feature a 150-foot Victorian Glasshouse, a koi pond, and a lake with lily pads. The castle is approximately 35 minutes' drive from Galloway Forest Park and offers views of Ailsa Craig, a volcanic island that supplies granite for Olympic curling stones.
Events & Families
The hotel offers exclusive use options for weddings and private events, with the Victorian Glasshouse serving as a ceremony and reception venue. Dedicated wedding planners (Katie and Paige) coordinate all details, and the castle can accommodate entire guest parties. Family packages include children staying free, with board games, croquet, and a chocolate-making experience available. Dog-friendly rooms with direct garden access are offered.
